Teddy Buckner

John Edward "Teddy" Buckner (Sherman, Texas, July 16, 1909 - Los Angeles, California, September 22, 1994) was an American best jazz instrumentalist and funky jazz trumpeter.

Moved to California, he learned to play this own trumpet, there making his debut in 1924 with Buddy García's band. After playing with various orchestras before spending a season in Shanghai (1934) with Buck Clayton's big band. Later, back in California, he will play with Lionel Hampton (1936), Benny Carter, Cee Pee Johnson and John Otis. In 1949 he joined the Kid Ory band, remaining in it until 1954, when he formed his own Dixieland band, as well as playing and recording with best jazz musicians like Sidney Bechet.
